the hum of the sun

The Hum of The Sun" encapsulates the quintessential essence of South African narratives, where the departure of fathers from their families is a recurring theme. Yet, amidst this absence, mothers demonstrate remarkable resilience, admirably stepping up to fulfill their roles despite feeling let down.

Upon reading Zuko and Ash’s narrative, I found myself contemplating my own capacity to emulate Ash's devotion to his younger sibling. Despite harboring doubts about my ability to measure up, reminiscences flooded my mind—moments where I fiercely defended my sister against injustices, both big and small. In the intricate tapestry of relationships, Zuko emerges as Ash's guiding light, providing the buoyancy needed to navigate the turbulent waters of life.

He becomes the embodiment of vitality, sustaining them through adversity and propelling them closer to the shores of salvation. Just as the horizon of hope appears within reach, the cosmos unfurls its unpredictable hand.

It’s a 9/10 read for me. especially for its evocative portrayal of the character, Zuko. Kirsten Miller's adept storytelling prowess through a journey that seems never-ending is everything!
